This project

1. Traditional Construction: The extension featured a traditional construction approach with concrete strip footings, a reinforced concrete floor slab, steelwork, and a timber-joisted flat roof structure. The insulated built-up roof covering provided energy efficiency and protection against the elements.
2. External Features: The external canopy and roof lantern were installed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the extension. Cavity external wing walls were clad in cedar boarding, which not only added to the visual charm but also contributed to weather resistance.
3. Interior Finishes: The interior of the extension included blockwork and metal studwork internal wall and ceiling linings, finished with a paint application. Vinyl and entrance matting floor coverings were utilized, ensuring a durable and low-maintenance flooring solution for high-traffic areas.
4. Surface Water Drainage: New surface water drainage systems were implemented to manage rainwater effectively and protect the building from potential water damage.
5. Window and Door Alterations: Existing window and door openings were altered to accommodate new fire-rated classroom windows. This improved safety and security within the school building.
6. Services Installations: The project also included a comprehensive services installation plan, which involved diverting an existing gas pipe to ensure the extension had access to necessary utilities.
7. Renovation of Existing Cloakroom: Upon completion of the extension, the existing small cloakroom areas were redecorated, and new flooring was laid. This refurbishment aimed to maintain a consistent and upgraded aesthetic throughout the school.
